Tokyo β Sept. 20 βΒ Nissan held an official opening ceremony for Nissan Crossing on Tuesday, its new brand experience space in the prestigious Ginza district, shortly before the venue opens its doors to the public on Saturday.
The event was attended by representatives of the Japanese government, ambassadors, leading figures in politics and business, members of the design community, and representatives of Ginzaβs planning council.
Nissan Crossing occupies the site of the former Nissan Gallery, a popular local landmark that served as a point of contact between Nissan and the general public from 1963 to 2014.
The new venue will offer visitors from around the world a chance to learn about Intelligent Mobility, Nissanβs vision for the future of the relationship between cars and people.
Speaking the event, Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn said: βThis new gallery is designed to express Nissanβs brand values of innovation and excitement in a space twice as large as the original.β
βThe gallery provides an enhanced customer experience, equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and world-leading features,β he said.
βWe believe Nissan Crossing will again become an important landmark in Ginzaβ¦and an epicenter for broadcasting the Nissan brand to the world.β

Tochigi, Japan β Nissanβs Tochigi Plant is the largest of the companyβs three main assembly plants in Japan, in terms of land area. It is about 100 km (62 miles) north of Tokyo. Established in 1968, the plant today largely turns out luxury vehicles and sports cars. A particular point of pride is the plantβs unique manufacturing process for the Nissan GT-R.
The GT-R, a legendary supercar, is known for its mastery at every touchpoint. The craftsmanship that goes into making the model is carried out with the utmost precision, with each part built and finished meticulously. At the Tochigi Plant, a master craftsman, called takumi, brings the GT-Rβs polishing to the ultimate level, using sensitive hands and sharp eyes to inspect, check and then polish each coat to perfection.
