All New Bridgestone Dueler AT Revo 3 All Terrain Truck Tire introduces Traction Claw Technology

By Gary Stanley — June 19th 2018 at 15:41

It has been over ten years since the introduction of the highly rated Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO 2.  For much of that time, it was among the very best On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tires for light trucks and SUV's.  It was praised for its combination of all weather capability, ride quality, and light off-road traction.  However, a decade is a long time in the tire industry.  New developments and technology have raised the bar on what modern tires are capable of.  Newer competing designs like the BFGoodrich All-Terrain TA KO2 and Michelin LTX A/T 2 have pushed ahead of the Dueler A/T REVO 2 in our tire ratings and reviews of On-/Off-Road All-Terrain Tires.  I wrote more about the BFGoodrich in a recent blog that you can check out as well.

I've always been a fan of Bridgestone tires, so I was excited when they presented us with their long-awaited replacement for the A/T REVO 2, called the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO 3.

Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3

As a result of newer tread compounds, advanced computer design and other technological advances in tire technology, Bridgestone was able to improve on their flagship On-/Off-Road All-Terrain Tire significantly.   To compete with newer designs, the new Dueler A/T REVO 3 features a more aggressive sidewall design and all new tread pattern.   A deep starting tread depth, wide circumferential grooves and open shoulder slots help channel water away from the contact patch to resist hydroplaning, Staggered shoulder lugs, groove stepping, and Bridgestone's Traction Claw Technology work to improve snow traction and off-road traction.  The wear warranty has been also increased by 20%, now standing at an impressive 60,000 miles.

Will these improvements be enough for Bridgestone to reclaim its top-tier status in the On-/Off-Road All-Terrain Tire category?  Stay tuned to our customer reviews and ratings page as drivers begin reporting their feedback to see for yourself!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 14th 2018 at 19:58

Let me start by saying I have almost 2M miles to my credit behind the wheel and I have never had anything close to what has happened the last month. This was my first and probably only set I'll buy . I needed to replace 3 tires since they were purchased 3 months ago. Great handling, braking and traction both wet, dry and snow however the sidewalls must be considerably softer than other brands I have owned or I've had considerably bad luck. FR blowout sidewall at 25mph with pothole in mid Jan. FR blew out again different pothole at 45-50mph 3 weeks later. And by blowout I mean it cracked the sidewall and the tire was flat within 1 mile. 1 week after that I noticed large bulge near bead on FL which I have just replaced today. IF you live in an area with milder weather (or better roads) these would probably be great but for northern urban/suburban areas with potholes common I would NOT recommend. And yes they were properly inflated and checked on numerous occasions because we have had great temperature fluctuations here this winter. I previously had Conti Pro-contact from dealer w new car, hit many a pothole without a hiccup but tread didn't last long at 25k it wasn't down to the bar but don't like heading into winter with low treads.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Premier A/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 14th 2018 at 19:58

I purchased a set of Michelin Premier A/S tires to replace the original OEM Continental tires. The OEM tires had 40,000 miles showing moderate wear with sever hydroplaning issues last fall. Dedicated Michelin winter tires used for the winter. I purchased the Preemier A/S tires in March.

I drove the car on snow, ice, heavy rains and dry roads. You experience some of all four season weather driving in Cleveland Ohio springs. The tires proved excellent in the rain, very good (I was pleasantly surprised) in light to moderate snow and excellent on dry roads. These are excellent tires but expensive. I found the tires to ride a bit hard at times (V rating on new tires vs. the H rating on the OEM tires?) and the road noise to be pronounced on various types of road surfaces especially at highway speeds. My son has the same tires on his 2008 Honda Accord. These tires handle different on his car than mine. I would rate these tires on his car as excellent in all categories.

I am pleased overall with my tires and recommend them if your budget can withstand the hit for four tires. I will provide an update later as the miles accumulate.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure with Kevlar

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 14th 2018 at 19:58

Great aggressive tire if you do a lot of highway driving. Hit a curb and didn't hurt the tire and no scratch on the rim! It is very quite compared to other tires like the Grabber but the snow traction is not as good as the grabber. I like the tire because it's a durable tire for off road and very comfortable on the highway. I was in the jeep when someone was driving over 110 mph and tires felt great

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich g-Force R1 S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 14th 2018 at 19:58

This is my fourth set of these tires being used on a fully prepared race car @ 2800lbs with driver and full tank. I've tried Hoosiers and these come in a lot quicker and last longer. After several days last year I added camber to the rear of my car and I'm now at -4.2 front / -3.8 rear. Tire pressure hot at 39psi. Running at Clubmotorsports is easy on tires with no accumulation of rubber and these tires are wearing perfectly with temps across all tires within 5 degrees in to out. Even after 25+ heat cycles they continue to deliver amazing grip. Running with evenly matched cars that are on brand new tires I was able to post equally fast lap times. Even though I run the softer R1S compound they have yet to go out on even the hottest days. These are my default tires and will remain so until something better comes along.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 13th 2018 at 15:36

These are good all around tires. A tire that can be used at the track, city, canyon driving. Noise is on the lower end and ride is comfortable but not as comfortable as the Hankook Ventus V12 V2. There are few tires that outperform this tire at the track but at the cost of wear, price, comfort, and noise.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 13th 2018 at 15:36

These perform great at the track and in autocross so far. Bit better tread life and wet performance than some other similarly-priced tires at the cost of a tiny bit of stickiness. Since they're my summer daily-driver tires in addition to track and autocross, this is a fair trade off for me, even though I don't drive a lot (mostly work from home.)

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Kumho Crugen HT51

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 11th 2018 at 14:41

These tires compaired to the BF Goodrich All Terrain that came as standard equipment is a difference of night & day. The OE BFGs were noisy, weren't good in the rain & didn't do my trucks handling justice. All in all there were terrible. The Kuhmo's are very quiet, handle the water well and handle in both wet & dry excellently. Could not have gotten a better tire had I spent 2X the price. No evaluation for snow, I'm in Myrtle Beach and have only had the tires for about 1000 miles so far, but will keep you all posted. Not my first rodeo with Tire Rack & won't shop anywhere else for tires.

Good for a basic all around tire, but definitely does not grip in snow. Your basic stock equipment, with all of the implications that carries.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 11th 2018 at 14:41

I just had the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires installed a week ago and have enjoyed the 300 miles thus far. The ride is 100% better as compared to the Bridgestone run-flats that had been installed. What was a jarring ride over the horrible Michigan roads has become a comfortable ride. I still need to dodge the potholes but over all the car feels so much better. I haven't driven the car in rain with these tires yet so will add more to this review when that happens. Same with tread wear. These tires have an aggressive look which looks very good on my Z4, and so far I have been very pleased with cornering ability and steering response. I'm sad to hear these tires have been discontinued as they are at a very aggressive price point and for the money they are excellent.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 11th 2018 at 14:41

Squeezed out 2 years and 20K miles on these things with a few track days and driving to / from Florida to end of Nova Scotia on road trips with these things. Plenty of tread left on the fronts and approaching the wear bars in the rear. The tire place was shocked I was changing them out already given how expensive they were but I didn't trust the rears for another driving season if I get caught in any rain.

Thought about going with the new Pilot Sport 4's but decided to stick with the OEM for the GT4 and just got all 4 corners mounted this week.

I'm sure if you do 10 track days a year or donuts in a parking lot these would wear out faster but frankly I'm shocked at how long they lasted for me. I was expecting under 8K miles.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin X-Ice Xi3

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 11th 2018 at 14:41

My winter tires, I have them in 16 inch, on steel wheels. I swap them on last week in October, and off last week in April. To be fair, these are mounted on a 2016 Subaru that doesn't let the vehicle get stupid on wet, snow, icy, gravel or otherwise loose surfaces, so I can compare the handling only to the OEM Yokohama Geolanders that are excellent on the car as well. The first winter on the Geolanders, and the second winter on the Michelins, and never a concern. Great ride, quiet, responsive (wife yelling SLOW DOWN!) at highway speeds. I've owned many Michelins going back to the mid 1980's on a VW Golf, through the OEM on my Jeep Grand Cherokee, and these Xice tires live up to my expectations!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 6th 2018 at 18:41

These tires are awful on this car. They do not steer correctly, they feel heavy and thick. Turn in is slow and non linear, they do not turn in at all at first then pull quickly to the side. The on center feel is sloppy and not precise. They require constant correction to stay in a straight line and tram line horribly, darting all over the lane. But they do not make any more noise than any other tire, drive smooth on smooth roads and terribly on poor ones.

I admit once in a corner they held a line and were easily corrected. Stopping in a straight line was fast and hard. Really impressive.

But I found them dangerous in traffic because of the wandering in the lane, they make driving the car no fun. I would never recommend them to anyone and will not ever purchase them again. Replaced them with 225 45 18 Primacy MXM4's and am happy again with my car.

These tires were OE on my jeep renegade, after only 17,000 miles they are worn out. I've never had a set of tires wear so fast. I would never buy these again.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Pirelli P4 Four Seasons Plus

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 5th 2018 at 16:38

I picked up a set of four of these and had them mounted and balanced on my 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L. They replaced a set of Hankooks that were loud and fast wearing. These tires are so quiet, I can't believe the difference. I rode home from the tire store in a torrential downpour and the tires held to road and made turns with no issue. In addition, it seems potholes have become smaller, in reality, the tires are making them seem like no big deal. I will write an update in a few months after I have put a couple of thousand miles on them.

Went on 6000 mile trip thru northwest from Chicago to Yellowstone and Columbia Gorge in all weather conditions. These tire are very quit on some roads and noisy on others. They feel like they hold the road better than original tires, but has a harder ride. Had run into hail storm in mountains @ 70mph which turn into 3 inches of slush within a minute with no problem. so far it's a good tire.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental TrueContact

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 4th 2018 at 14:07

Tires were bought as 3rd set on this vehicle. Fantastic tire overall. Excellent on dry and wet and quite reasonable on snow and ice as a non snow tire. Most impressive is the tread wear. Hardly looks used after 20K. Vehicle is used for travel to local college and delivery services by college student. Despite aggressive driving the tires are holding up well. I plan to purchase these tires for my other vehicles when they need them.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich g-Force R1

Versus other type tires and brands this is the best for road course racing. I won't use any others. Feel very safe in high speed corners and have never been off the track with these. Grip is great and they wear very well. I don't run in the rain and have another set of tires and wheels if I were to ever run in the rain. They fit the set up I have in my car and work great in complementing the set up I have.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental TerrainContact A/T

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 4th 2018 at 14:07

When I left the tire shop it was downpouring outside. Nobody was on the road. So I turned off the traction control and ran the tires through every bit of deeper standing water on the edge of the road. Cornered hard in the downpour also. No sliping or getting pulled into the puddles. The wet traction seriously seems just as good as on a dry road. I'm impressed how quiet they are on the road. So far these are the best tires I've had on any vehicle that I've ever had in my 44 years of living. My wife said she loves the feel driving the truck now. Note, stay away from Goodyear Wrangler SR-A tires, they slipped on wet roads from day one. I will definitely be ordering a second set of these tires in a few years!!! I wouldn't buy any other tire now!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — June 4th 2018 at 14:07

I had the same problem as most with the new body style Tahoe and the stock 22 wheels. After GM paid for a new set of Bridgestones at 14,000 to replace the current piece of junk Bridgestones, I decided to give these a try. I was at the point of getting rid of the vehicle at 18,000 miles because I could no longer stand the vibration of a vehicle that cost $75k. Once I installed these Defender LTX's I have never looked back. These are the best tires I have ever rode on. They turn my disappointed Tahoe into the vehicle it is supposed to be. I will definitely will be buying again.
