Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

These tires changed the driving experience of our 2008 Honda Pilot. This is my wife's car, only 70K miles. I never liked riding in it because of the loud road noise and harsh ride. After reading all the reviews I purchased these tires. I told my wife that these tires will change the whole feel of driving this car. 2 days after they were on she said the car really does ride different. I even enjoy driving it now. So much quieter and smoother. The handling feels so much more responsive and secure. I'm very happy with this purchase and will most definitely buy these tires again. Next time for my LR3.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Defender T+H

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I have only driven about 2000 miles on these tire but so far I am very happy with them. The comfort and noise level are at least as good as the original and the wet traction is superior.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

This is a great driving and wearing tire. My Silverado has over 260,000-miles. This is the third set of summer tires I have had on it (I put snow tires on in the winter). The factory Generals ran 30,000 miles, BFGoodrich ran 100,000 and these Michelins will go to 100,000. I have not found a quieter and better riding tire than Michelins. The outlined white letters also make the tires look as good as they perform. Getting ready to order another set in the near future.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I just turned over 70K on the predecessor of this tire, the Michelin LTX M/S2 (my first set of Michelin), and it is, by far, the best tire I have ever owned in my 68 years on this planet. I have never obtained 70K, or anywhere close, on any other brand, and they still have enough tread for several more months, so could go as high as 80, possibly, if I were to continue driving on them. The ride, stability and handling is excellent, as is the construction, durability and overall quality. I am putting a 3 lift on my truck and moving to a larger size tire, which will be this one, the Defender, along with a new set of custom wheels from tirerack, also. I can't ever see buying a different brand of tire for the remainder of my life, no matter what vehicle I drive. These are the top of the heap, as far as I am concerned, and have my highest recommendation to others. If your experience is like mine, you will love them!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

Almost a year now with the 2018 Carrra GTS. Removed, the PZeros on delivery and had the Michelin's mounted . I've had the Supersports Ferraris and used them on a Turbo S in the past. The P zeros are a decent tire...but the Michelins handle better and ride better. Better steering feel. The only down side, which is typical with all high end Michelin tires, is the NVH on concrete / rougher surfaces. Other tires may have better noise characteristics on that surface.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I purchased these tires recently along with a set of Kosei K4R alloys to replace the OEM tires and wheels. They are 6-8 pounds per tire and wheel lighter than the originals and the improvement in comfort, grip and handling is remarkable. The OEM Michelin Primacy tires produced a markedly harsh, stiff ride due, I'm assuming to much stiffer sidewalls. The new tires and wheels retained the same size as the OEM's but transformed the car for the better. I will need to confirm this, but my gas mileage may have slipped a few mpg with the tire change. Something I suspected would happen since the Primacy tire is optimized for gas mileage. Since this is a modestly high performance vehicle, that's not a deal breaker. I'm sure there are stickier performance tires available, but the Pilot Sports represent an excellent compromise position. My initial impression couldn't be more positive.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Riken Raptor ZR A/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I'm glad this tire in this size is being manufactured and tire rack is carrying it again (the factory size tire for '94-'96 Impala SS and some Mustangs). I needed one to replace a badly punctured rear tire, but when I saw they were available again I bought two new ones (the other two in front also were Riken Raptors. I wanted to keep the same tire make and tread pattern on all four tires). At the end of this fall's driving season I'll purchase another two to replace the fronts. Thanks Tire Rack !!!!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I wanted to like this tire. Ended up loving it!! I'm one to test limits of products to see what the tolerances are and boy has this tire been impressive in that regard. The amount of grip on these is amazing. I haven't heard them screeching one bit as I have pushed what I thought were the limits of my car based on previous tires but now find myself discovering the limits of the rest of my suspension as these tires keep asking for more. They were bought in the middle of winter and we had a nasty snow storm a few days after. My driveway is a steep incline and these tires were able to claw a FWD sedan out of about a foot of freshly fallen snow. I promptly sold my dedicated snow tires soon after, as I believe these will suffice for most of the snow conditions that may come along while the insane wet traction will keep me planted in any wet conditions. The noise isn't noticeably louder than Toyo Extensas that were on the vehicle before them. At 2K miles the tires still look brand new. Hopefully the wear is as great as the rest of the tire

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Premier LTX

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I have just over 22,000 miles on my XC90 3.2. It is a heavy vehicle and can eat tires and brake pads. I do monthly 1,400 mile road trips and then city driving in between. This tire has a firmer sidewall than other tires and feels a little sporty. When I drive through the twisty mountains of PA, I feel confident with the sidewall and grip. Great in dry, excellent in noise, nice in wet. Only thing I noticed is in heavy slush and deeper snow when driving on the highway through some blizzards. These could use a little more tread depth to start. Also, I am not sure of the wear, but I should get at least 30,000-35,000 miles while still staying safe in winter driving. That's about the max of any other tire I've had on the car. I'm diligent with rotating around 5-7,000 miles and make sure I am at minimum 36psi in all seasons. Would I buy again? This works well for 95% of the time. I also don't see a better option for the performance. I thought about going to a wider/taller 245/65-17 where more truck highway options are available, but then I trade some of that sporty feeling and cornering confidence. Overall, these are great consistent tires throughout the wear. I hate changing tires before they are completely worn due to noise or drop in performance. These would be perfect with an additional 2/32s of tread.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin CrossClimate+

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

My past bad experience for buying a set of tires at a reputed national retailer in an emergency situation 500 miles away from home was the trigger to begin my own search this time for my base 2010 Prius tires. The A/S tires sold to us as LRR tires turned out to be one of the worst in fuel efficiency as fuel consumption had increased by almost 1.5L/100km (10 MPG decrease) on my spouse 2012 Prius V.

I did not find comparative test results or ratings of CrossClimate+ tire in LRR category. The closest direct comparison available with stock tires on Prius V (Energy Saver a/s) were EU ratings for a likely derivative (Energy Saver+). So, I compared Energy Saver+ & Crossclimate+ ratings in 15 inch tire sizes to decide. The stock tire on my standard Prius was ProContact A/S.

So far, I have 500 kilometers on CrossConnect+ XL rated tires on standard prius. I have much better control and lesser noise both in sun as well as rain compared to 15 inch ProContact A/s. Braking is better than any tire I have ever experienced on any car. My Control on standard Prius is much better than 16 inch EnergySaver A/S on Prius V (sharp curvy steep down hill road). It's still 6 months away from Toronto-Buffalo-Pittsburgh area winter. I am hoping it will at least match the winter performance of the ProContact a/s as crossclimate+ is Prius stock tire in snowy & icy Turkey .

I compared my previous best MPG from D/T Buffalo, NY to Burlington, ON all highway at 80km/h in same direction all highway at 70km/hr. I got exact same result of 3.5L/100km in two trips with Crossclimate+, so far. At higher speeds, I have matching results as well (it's not 3.5L/100km). Noise is lower than the ProContact A/S on my base prius. It is insignificantly more than Energy Saver A/s on Prius V - but that comparison is not between same tire size nor the same car.

Hopefully, controlled professional comparative test results of CrossClimate+ in LRR category will become available in future

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

Tires do make a difference compared to the tires that came with the vehicle when I had purchase it. I can not understand why BMW did not go with these tires and instead went with the Continentals. The difference between the Michelin's and the Continentals are so far apart compared to the ride, noise,Handling, and steering why would you even entertain the Continentals. Give yourself a favor, ride with the Michelins, you will not be disappointed ..

Is the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S the New King of the Hill for Max Performance Summer Tires?

By Gary Stanley

Since 2011, Michelin's Pilot Super SportΒ all but dominated the competition in theΒ Max performance summer tireΒ category.Β  It has been the benchmark in the category, a favorite of consumers, and has won many Tirerack.com comparison tests.Β  I've even expressed my own personal praise for the Pilot Super Sport tires after installing them on my own car in my blog titled "Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires Installed On My Car".Β  Improving over a benchmark-setting tire such as this and creating an even better tire would seem to be quite the challenge.Β  Enter Michelin's newest flagship performance tire : the Pilot Sport 4S.Β Β

Β

The new Pilot Sport 4S was developed in cooperation with Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, and other car manufacturers in order to create a Max Performance Summer tire that would prove to be a worthy successor to the outstanding Pilot Super Sport.Β  TheΒ  Pilot Sport 4S uses technologies that Michelin engineers developed from their experience on the track in the 24 of Le Mans.Β  The new side by side rubber compound that utilizes a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber compound to improve dry handling and braking compared to the Pilot Super Sport, while still featuring a silica-infused wet compound to give drivers extra confidence in wet conditions.Β  You can read more about the technologies that Michelin has incorporated into the tire at the Pilot Sport 4S product information page at Tirerack.com.Β  Β  Β  I

In a recent full test, the tire was praised for it's steering feel and light handling feel on the street.Β  The tester in the video even went so far as to call it "ideal...good weight...natural and linear...millimeter-precise without being overly sensitive."Β  Β Check out the test video :Β

Β

On the track, the Pilot Sport 4S stood out among its competition with regards to handling, steering response and overall grip in a tire that was easy to control at the limits.Β  To again quote the Tirerack.com test driver, "everything about the Pilot Sport 4S just feels right on track."Β  Dry lap times were the fastest versus the other two tires in the test.Β  Remarkably, it also posted the fastest wet lap times on the track as well, edging out both the Continental ExtremeContact Sport, and Pirelli Pzero (PZ4).Β Β

To summarize, the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S does indeed set a new high water mark in the Max performance Summer category, performing all tasks as well or better than its competition. It would hard for me not to conclude that the Pilot Sport 4S is indeed the new Max Performance Summer tire king of hill.Β  Check out pricing and availability as well as customer ratings and reviews at Tirerack.com.Β Β

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

Had these tires put on my Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk to replace the factory Firestones. I was concerned about the noise and snow capabilities of this tire. No need to worry. These shoes look great and rip up the Colorado snow. The 50,000 mile warranty is an added bonus!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental ExtremeContact Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I had gotten summer wheels for the car taken off a newer Infiniti. They are staggered 9x19 and 9.5x19. Since the car is AWD I wanted to ensure no issues with different size tires so got 225/45 on front and 255/40 rear - both have diameters of 27 so no AWD issues.
Have just taken the car on a 2,000 mile round trip and so far really like these tires. Haven't really pushed them hard yet as I wanted a gradual break in and also focused on some modifications I'm doing to the engine. The last couple of years I've pretty much stayed with Continental tires as their price/performance is the best in the market IMHO. These tires were rated as high as the Michelin Sports and yet were far more economical, saving hundreds for the set. Contis also seem to wear very well and I've had the DWS and DW series on my Audi S4. Each time I buy tires (usually every 2-3 years) after I do the research I seem to end up with Contis. Tire Rack is the ultimate source for objective info on tires and I tell everyone looking for tires to go there. As far as these Contis go, the grip seems great and haven't had any issues with sidewalls being too stiff or mushy, and there seems to be no indication of hydroplaning due to the large channels. Overall very pleased with the tires and I would consider buying them again.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental TerrainContact A/T

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

Bought these when it was time to put away the winter tires. Love 'em. They are very solid underfoot. Used about 50% highway, 40% City, 10% Off-Road. Not at all wobbly on the highway, they want to go nice and straight until you ask them to turn. No hydroplaning concerns in a heavy thunderstorm. Off-road rocks, dirt & sand was no problem at all. Across the board, sure footed. Much more so than the nimble but wobbly Pirelli Cinturato P7's they replaced (I wasn't going off road then). I was concerned that my wife wouldn't like the feel of AT tires (think hiking boot compared to sneaker) but she loves the confidence she gets from their solid feel. Didn't compare mileage because I don't want to know. Good durable traction is my priority (mileage doesn't matter if you puncture a tire 50 miles into the desert or slide off a cliff, right?). Can't speak for snow as I routinely travel in areas of Utah that average 400 of snow per season, I need Winter Tires for that. All Season tires (even AT tires) aren't even close to Winter Tire performance so I'll never say an All Season tire is good in snow or ice. That would take a tire manufacturing miracle.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (H- or V-Speed Rated)

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I bought these tires as a replacement for the stock run-flats that BMW insists on putting on their cars. Immediate improvement in ride comfort over the stiff run-flats. Great dry and wet traction. Impressive responsiveness and grip that nearly rivals some summer tires on friend's Minis. Better than average light snow traction. Not as good as a dedicated winter/snow tire, but good enough for me as I live in a metropolitan area and, aside from 2017/18's record snow fall in southeast South Dakota, don't typically have a need for a full-time winter tire.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

I read a lot about these tires and last spring pull the trigger once they were on sale. Little bit noisy but what I really impressed is a wet traction. It is just beyond the laws of physics!!!!! I have no idea how Michelin guys has achieved this but I have now words how to describe that feeling when I really afraid in attempts to find their limits. This is my most impressive purchase in last years. Was not so amazed with tires never before.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews

These tires are great, like most of the reviews said. They are way more comfortable and quiet than my previous Pirellis. Just keep in mind the noise level will rise along the age of thes tire. With 5k miles I can say the noise is definitely higher than new on these Extreme Contacts. One weird thing I've had with these tires is my driver side front started leaking from the sidewall without any exterior damage, and my wheels are brand new so I know they are not the cause. Thankfully warranty should take care of this. Bad luck maybe?
