Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich g-Force Rival S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:08

Last season, I was going to buy the Bridgestone Potenza Re71r but they were back ordered for 2 months so I decided to go with a set of the Rival S for autocross. What a great tire! These tires handle great in the dry and handle well in wet conditions. I dont recommened driving in heavy rain, that can be sketchy. But for an extreme performance tire i was surprised by how well they handled in wet conditions and how great the treadwear has been. I put about 40-50 runs in autocross and put about 2500 miles on the street and they still have about 50% tread left. The tires warm up fairly quickly and after just a few turns i have maximum grip. Even in colder temperatures these tires still performed well. I highly recommend a set of the Rival S, you wont be disappointed!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich Rugged Trail T/A

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:08

I have gone through 5 sets of these BFG rugged trail tires. If you are sticking to mostly highway and city driving and occasional dirt roads this tire is perfect. I often take my truck to the snow and have to put chains on. If there is any ice or snow on the road this tire loses grip immediately. Even brand new these tires do not hold grip on wet surface let alone a surface that is covered in a slight dusting of snow or ice. I've averaged about 50,000 miles for each set of BFG rugged trails I've used. They usually start to get a radial pull after 50,000 miles. If you are in a dessert region where there is no snow and ice definitely get these tires. If you are in an area where this is a lot of rain and snow I wouldn't get these. I love the tires for the fact that they do last a very long time. You just have to drive a lot more careful in wet/snow conditions.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:09

I drive my car pretty hard through the canyons but also cruise through the city and usually on the weekends I take it to the local autox events. These tires are AMAZING, replaced my stock dunlops and these are night and day. Grip is excellent in the dry or in the wet it doesn't matter what you throw at them. Dry weather they just grip and go amazing Road and steering feel, I know exactly what my car is doing and the road noise is QUIET AND COMFORTABLE. Not sure if others reviewing are sensitive to noise but when you have a fully built motor with a straight piped exhaust I can't imagine how a tire could become unbearable. Wet driving is amazing, multiple times I've had to push the tires to there limits and never have they failed to grip and provide positive feedback. On more then a few occasions I've had deer or other animals run out in front of me and these tires have never locked up even with a full brembo brake kit. Treadwear is very good but even if I only got 20k out of them I'd still buy again.

Highly recommended for there steering feel, responsiveness, wet weather safety, treadwear and (quietness) lol

If you want a reliable tire that's up there with Michelin Pilot Super Sports and Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s
Look no further Γ°ŸΒ€™Γ°ŸΒΌ

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Bridgestone Blizzak WS80

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:10

I selected this tire on the advice of the Tire Rack rep in a phone conversation. I drive in snow and ice conditions in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I have driven this tire in very severe snow and ice conditions going over the mountains and it is incredible. It grips the road like crazy even in deep snow and on icy roads. Very impressed. Highly recommend this tire for use in severe ice and snow conditions.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:10

Living in New York and daily driving a Mustang in the winter can be stressful, but these tires made all the difference. I was able to drive through several light snow storms without any problems, and these tires got me through some heavier snow fall as well, though I tried to stay off the roads when they were too bad. Overall, these tires gave me the confidence to drive as if it were summer time throughout the entire winter. I would definitely recommend them.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (W- or Y-Speed Rated)

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:10

These tire made a positive change in all areas the day they were installed. They replaced the factory Bridgetone tire which were very uncomfortable and hard riding.. Would recommend these tires to my friends without question.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:12

Replaced the OEM installed Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires with only 13,000 miles on the clock and installed the new Michelin Pilot 4S tires. I've had prior experience with some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires, as well as two sets of Michelin PSS tires on different cars, and Michelin knocked it out of the park again.

Summary = Superb traction and handling with extremely high confidence in grip and handling while providing comfort in ride and noise levels. Personally, my nickname for these tires are Superman Tires, and they just surprising me and anyone that rides in my car.

Fast Friday Drag racing int Ennis, TX at Texas Motorplex on April 31st did not disappoint either. I only needed to perform light spin of the tires after the water box area (like 2-seconds), and the rear tires hooked up without any drama or spin. I had been considering getting another set of rear wheels and purchasing some drag radials, but not anymore.

Hitting a road coarse the week before going down a high speed 15-degree sweeper at 150mph was impressive as well. The tires provided excellent feedback and response, and they simply communicated, we got this.

These are on my daily driver, 80-mile daily commute, and I fully expect to get approximately 25,000-30,000 miles from them, even with the occasional track day, just as all previous Michelin Pilots have provided me.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Premier A/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:12

Apprehensive at first about the price. These are by far the best tires that I've ever purchased. My Honda handles great, grips the road and it feels that same now at 50,000 miles as it did the day I had them first put on. I would definitely buy them again.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Premier A/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:12

Initial Review, I will be reporting in 10 to 15k increments I hope.
I just installed these coming from the Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring and its a night and day difference for the better.
In comparison the Coopers get a 10 for noise because they are scary quiet. But they go away fast, don't do as well in the wet as claimed, are a bit choppy on imperfections, and cold spot if sat over night in 55Β°F taking no less than 3 miles to round out.

I would only give a 10 for noise if I never hear them so I rate a 9 for noise because there are times I can just barely hear them on coarse roads. In 2011 Dodge began noise insulation in these cars wheel wells so.....
I had a chance to run these tires in heavy rain and where the CS5's would not grip up a steep on ramp and these went up like it was dry. I rolled it on slowly and waited for a slip that never came.
Michelin's braking claims on these tires are no exaggeration. Amazing is the only way I can describe it. I hit plenty of standing water and was impressed with tracking and hydroplaning resistance.
I use RainX and during one downpour on I75 I was unhampered by the weather going by cars that had their flashers on in concern.
The ride is very nice. My R/T has the SDDS Sport Suspension option, and I upgraded the dampers with the Bilstein B6 Performance line. So while this is a VERY nice riding car that is no Cadillac or Town Car but the ride is one of the night and day improvements over my last tires.
These are luxury grand touring all season tires, not ultra performance tires. I don't carve up curvy roads. I do play but not in G-force type of play. I gave a 9 because I'm sure the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires would respond better. Maybe some performance buffs would give them an 8. I do not have complaints here.
It was 50Β°F this AM and there was no flat spotting on the same route the CS5's constantly reminded me of.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (H- or V-Speed Rated)

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:13

I bought a set of the Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ V rated tires to replace asset of A/S 3 Y rated tires. As the older tires wore they started to tramline horribly - to the point that they were scary to drive on bad freeways. I was concerned about dropping from ultra high performance (Y) to high performance (V). So far so good. I drove from Seattle to Portland in the rain yesterday and found the ride quality massively improved over the old tires. No tramlining, I let go of the wheel and they went perfectly straight. I no longer felt like I needed to wrestle with the car to stay safe. The V's are slightly softer, but not enough that I've felt I've lost performance. My wife commented on the fact that they were so much smoother and slightly quieter. The rain was heavy at times and at 75mph in heavy rain, I didn't feel any slipping. We're past the snow season in our area, so I won't get to test it until next winter.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:13

I replaced my Eagle F1's with theses tires, which I had on my WRX as original equipment. The F1's stuck like glue in the summer on a perfect day only. I live in OH and there's rarely a perfect day. The F1's in the morning when it was cold, slid like crazy and I could barely old the car in a straight line with the lightest of rain. I recommendd the Super Sports to everyone i talk to. They are a great tire in the rain and great in the summer. They have a much wider range of drive ability than the F1's. I never go to take the F1's to the track, but for everyday driving here in OH, the Super Sports are a much better tire.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin LTX M/S2

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:14

I don't typically write reviews. I've never had a tire last more than 30,000 miles for me. I bought this Expedition used and totaled with these tires on it at 30,000 miles. I did an allignment then but none since. I've done no rotations. have 130,000 miles on it now and at this rate it will still be a while before these tires are done. I just got it inspected, no notes on the tires. I'm not an easy driver, I love cornering. I call them my miracle tires.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Energy Saver A/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:14

On my third set of these tires and all were on the 2013 and 2016 Ford C-Max Hybrid. I've experienced non of the negative aspects described by some other reviewers but these tires are on the car only in Spring, Summer, and Fall. In winter I use snow tires as these are not suited to snow and ice. I've never felt unsafe driving at high speeds on the interstate or taking curves at 60 on a two lane road. They wear very well as long as one pays attention to rotating the tires at regular intervals and has an alignment check every so often. These tires also deliver on mileage getting the C-Max into the 44-46 mpg range. The fact I'm on my third set is the best recommendation for these tires.
The only other tire I considered was the Michelin Primacy but after comparing the two it seemed the Primacy offered a little more in the handling but less in the gas mileage,( Primacy 28.3 mpg on a 2011 BMW E92 328i Coupe/Energy Saver 53.8 mpg on a 2009 Toyota Prius). The test vehicles MPG are, (2011 BMW 24 mpg/2009 Prius 46 mpg). On wet pavement the tires had different stopping distances, (Primacy 110.3 ft/ Energy Saver 107.2 ft). These were the specs that got me to buy the Energy Saver again.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Defender LTX M/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” April 12th 2017 at 20:15

Purchased LTX M/S in 2011 with 75k miles on my 4Runner. I now have 156k miles and the tires still have about 5k miles of threadwear left. I think the key with the longevity of the thread is to always rotate your tires for even wear and rebalance every 30k. I've had three alignments since purchasing the tires and I have to say that I'm very impressed with the quality of these tires. Sidewalls are beginning to show its age, but it's expected. Road noise is average for all season SUV tires. Overall traction is superb for dry weather. In wet weather, there is a little wiggle when I accelerate hard, but no slippage. My traction control system usually comes on before anything crazy happens. Tires hold up moderately well in snowy conditions. Adjusting your speeds seem to be the best practice and reassurance that you don't go into a slide, regardless of good/bad tires. My driving style is defensive. I tend to accelerate hard on the freeway and can take my corners hard. Overall, if you take care of these tires, they will take care of you. I feel I got my monies worth for the price of these SUV tires.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Latitude Tour

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” May 5th 2017 at 13:43

OE equipment, almost 94k miles on the original tires... what more can I say? In Oklahoma we have all kinds of driving conditions, ice, rain, snow, extreme heat. 4 years on the tires and zero complaints. Really good traction in ice/snow/rain. Dry roads the tires seem a little hard (can spin easier) Can slide a little if you take a corner too fast. BUT, they are not performance tires, they are economical tires. We've been getting over 34 mpg average and unbelievable treadwear. We still have 5/32 tread and I WILL buy these same tires for replacement

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental ExtremeContact Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” May 5th 2017 at 13:44

I recently purchased these tires for my 99 Corvette. This car is my daily driver, and I commute 60+ miles per day down mostly curvy, two lane roads. These tires are phenomenal compared to the stock runflat tires. I have never been so pleased with a set of tires. Grip and cornering are substantially improved, and the wet grip is fantastic for a sports car. They are also quiet and comfortable on long interstate drives. I highly recommend these tires.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” May 5th 2017 at 13:44

I did quite a bit of research on the available tires for my TT Roadster before I purchased. I have had some good success with sets of Conti's in previous years. However, when the tires wear down they are very noisy. This is what I was trying to avoid. So other than performance I wanted quiet I swore in the past that I would never buy Firestone's from experience many years ago, but after reading the reviews and specs I was confident the Indy 500's were exactly what I was looking for.

First, I was very pleased with Tire Rack's quick delivery of the tires after I ordered. They arrived in pristine condition. Once I located an installer I was also very pleased with the tires specifically as it related to quiet. Other than engine noise almost no road noise at all. A+ on quiet. It has been just under a month since I put the tires on but I did note they have a very smooth ride and did well on the corners.

The only thing I have noted to date is the overall feel is a little more spongy from previous tire types. Especially more noticed at higher speeds. As others have pointed out they get a little iffy at the extremes. This is really the only negative I have experienced so far.

On a more positive note, it rained today and this was the first time I took them out on wet. I was very pleased with the solid traction I was getting with no fade or hydroplaning that I have had in earlier tire iterations. Pretty much glued to the ground. While it may be true the Conti's had a better road feel as new, the trade off was increased noise when they began to wear. Two summers on them. Too early to tell how the Firestone Indy's will last. But, from what I have seen so far for the price these are winners. Again the only lower mark would be road sense and feel is a bit lacking otherwise for the money these tires are awesome!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews β€” May 5th 2017 at 13:45

I bought these to run F Street SCCA Solo hoping to be competitive and they have not disappointed. The grip is immense, the tire response is razor sharp and they have great grip from the first run. On the stock Pirelli P-Zero's out of three events I managed 13th, 5th and 16th in Pax overall out of 55 to 77 drivers depending on the event. Now, four events in on squared 275/35/19 RE71r I have managed three 1st and one 2nd place over all in Pax in groups from 55 to 105 drivers. To me the results speak for themselves. On the tread wear front I will update this at the end of the season but I imagine they will be competitive for the remaining 8 events. Also to note I throw these tires on at the house and drive to events that are anywhere from 20 miles to 150 miles away but they are not daily driven.

2nd season on these tires, from approx. 5k to 11,400 miles. a little more wear on the front this year due to a fairly dry winter.front center tread @8/32's, shoulders @ 7/32's...rear center is 9/32's, outside shoulders 9/32's and inside @ 8/32's...1st season had a lot of snow and wear front and rear was very even and ended with 10/32's for all four..not used to blizzacks wearing this well and had swore of zaks' due poor handling and high wear factor..not any more! these tires are excellent all around regardless of the weather, with very acceptable handling. these are on a 2012 audi a4 prestige s-line avant quatrro with sports suspension [and 034 rear sway bar/apr stage 1]....my son was impressed enough that he put them on his new golf r.
