Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental ExtremeContact Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:45

I was between these and the new pilot sports. After trying these based off the recommendation of a guy who has SCCA solo titles I just cannot justify the price difference between the tires. They just are planted at all times and I am not even through the break in period of the tires yet. The ride comfort is great and the turn in is sharp. I look forward to running my RS and these tires at a SCCA event. If you are like me and between these and the PS4s save yourself the $200 and give these a try. I do not think you will be dissapointed.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:46

Having had G-Force T/A KDW P255 as my summer tire for 9 years, I was used to the tire rumble, hydroplaning in heavy rain over 50MPH, absolute terror driving in snow or ice, and the very sporty look of the flame tread. The only thing I miss is the very sporty look of the tread. The pronounced all season tread on the sidewalls wasn't expected, and takes some getting used to (it does take away from a sleek look), but being able to run the tires with confidence March through November is an acceptable trade-off (I'm in the Chicago area).

East coasters! These are perfect!! Couldn't be happier with them. I am doing this post only 2 days and approx 100 miles into lifespan. Right away i noticed major diffs! Old tires were a factory brand which ran well but these are noticeably more alive! Tried hammer down for burnout but only got quick chirp and hard accel with tcs off! Simply..they dont look that great for nothin! Great job Bfgoodrich!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:49

After a lot of thought and looking at reviews I decided to replace the tires I had on my Audi it came with Goodyear's. The price for those tires was like 198.00. I looked around for a good high performance summer tire and these BF Goodrich tires looked like they fit the bill. The only thing that worried me was they said that under 50 mph there was road noise but after putting them on so far they seem very quiet. They are very sticky and seem to grip the road very well. Sadly I couldn't wait till July to get them from here so I ordered them from another site cheaper. It wasn't about them being cheaper it was about the availability that was my concern seeing I had till the end of April to get my studded snow tires off. But I will say that so far I am completely satisfied without any hesitations. I will update more once I have had them for a little while and see how they are performing.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:49

Have had these on the car for a short time, but even so, am very satisfied with these tires. They run quiet and are very smooth and composed over bumps and railroad tracks. They handle heavy rain confidently without missing a beat. Very satisified so far and will provide a follow up review.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:50

I had no issues with the stock run flat tires (225/45/18 Continental ContiProContact SSR) that came with the car. They were mostly fine. But I knew I could do better. After a ton of research here and on forums, I went with this tire as it seemed to best fit my needs for the car.

After reading all of the individual reviews for this tire, I shouldn't have been surprised when they completely transformed the car. But I was. The car now went from having accurate steering and good turn-in response with not much feel to having very precise steering and excellent response with good feel. I can now actually feel the road when I drive. Not like the previous generation hydraulic steering, but enough to know what the surface underneath me is like and what the tires are doing to grip it.

And the grip, it is phenomenal. It even seems to talk to you about how much is left; and it always seems to say you're not even close, keep pushing. It is incredibly confidence inspiring. The car went from fun to drive to I can't believe I get to drive this car again today!.

All of this would be moot though if I had turned my daily driver into a harsh, noisy, uncomfortable vehicle. Instead, the ride comfort and noise got much better. No longer does a bump or pothole sound and feel like a bomb went off and jar the entire car. There is little to no detectable road noise inside the car and it is so much smoother over any road imperfections. The ride, to me, is absolutely perfect.

In summation, I really can't imagine a better tire for anyone looking for comfort and sport in a daily driver. I can't wait to take it to the local mountain roads.

PS All of the comments in Tire Rack's comparison review of this tire (no winter experience yet) ring completely true for my experience as well.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Continental ExtremeContact Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:51

I just wanted to give you some update on the Continental Tires I put on my BMW Z4 3.5 SI ( I have the Sport package)
The tiers are phenomenal,
The first couple of days I found some rubber "dust" on the trunk between the Tail lights.
I guess they adjusted to the unique alignment of the wheels.
They are way quitter and very comfortable for a car like this.
The interstate staccato is gone and the response during driving is the same for me .
Wet Handling is perfect.
I will never go back to Run Flats on this car,
The price I got through Tire Rack was great too and incl. full Road Hazard Warranty by Tire Rack

However the biggest surprise is, that I went from max. 340 miles for a full tank to about 430 + miles for a full tank
I would upload a pic of my BC reading if it would be possible.
I commute about 85 miles a day mostly interstate and use the Cruise control a lot .
As of now a steal I will see where we end up with the mileage Wear

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Premier LTX

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 5th 2017 at 13:52

Have had these tires for about 5k miles so far. In the beginning, tires were stiffer so the road quality was harsher but over time the ride has become pretty smooth and quiet. Handling is a little down from the stock tires but overall pleased - still maintains the CX-5 fun to drive feel. MPG wise doing well - on highway in the 30-31 mpg range, average around 28s mpg. Tires are a big expense and if you goof you are stuck for 4 yrs. I did a lot of research but there were not many reviews for these tires on the CX-5. Wanted to add my review and overall I would recommend them for replacing the stock CX-5 tires.

Could not be happier. Amazed at the difference these new tires made to the way our Infiniti rides, handles and just makes the car feel. Thought my previous tires were great ( a set of P7's ) these new Michelin tires are much better. Also very happy with Tire Rack. Fast shipment, good service at one of there installers and a better price than I was able to secure elsewhere. Even shopped Costco. This is my second set of tires from Tire Rack.

Best Tires for 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE

By Tire Rack Team — May 5th 2017 at 15:08

The 2012 Toyota Sienna XLE is a perfect vehicle for a larger family. Well built to provide a comfortable ride with a smooth and powerful engine, the Sienna XLE AWD version comes with second-row lounge seats that feature pop-up footrests. With such a comfortable interior, you don’t want to ruin it by riding on the wrong tires.

Equipped with 235/55R18 Bridgestone Turanza EL 400-02 RFT tires as Original Equipment, the tire was Bridgestone’s first run-flat tire to arrive in the United States that featured their third-generation run-flat technology. It’s designed to offer almost the same riding comfort as conventional tires while continuing to provide temporary mobility in the event a puncture allows complete air loss.

When the time comes to replace your vehicle’s Original Equipment tires, take a look at our best sellers for the Sienna:

If you enjoy the convenience of a run-flat tire, and prefer to keep them installed on your minivan, consider the Bridgestone DriveGuard. The tire is developed for safety-minded drivers who are looking for a better riding option than their vehicle’s Original Equipment run-flat tires. Featuring Bridgestone’s latest run-flat technology, the DriveGuard offers almost the same riding comfort as conventional tires, while offering year-round driving flexibility with predictable handling, traction and control on dry and wet roads, as well as in light snow.

The idea of moving to a conventional tire appeals to many customers, and if you fall under this category, we recommend the Michelin Defender LTX M/S. As an owner of a Sienna minivan, you know this vehicle is very hard on tires. So to get long tread life out of your next set of tires, the Michelin Defender LTX M/S will not only accomplish this, but also provide a smooth and quiet ride thanks to Michelin’s MaxTouch Construction. It produces a contact patch that promotes reliable traction and long wear by evenly distributing acceleration, braking and cornering forces.

Not sure what to do? Try our Tire Decision Guide to help you narrow down your choices. You’ll answer just a few questions and we’ll trade you your answers for our top tire recommendations.

New Wheels for 2017 Subaru BRZ with Performance Pack Brembo Brakes

By Cy Chowattukunnel — May 10th 2017 at 13:53

I was hoping to convince Tire Rack management to cover the cost swapping my 2015 Subaru BRZ for a 2017 Subaru BRZ with the Performance Pack.

This would give us quick access for a car to test fit and I get the newest BRZ. Of course they didn't go for that, but we have updated our website with compatible wheels for the 2017 Subaru BRZ with Performance Pack Brembo Brakes. You can view all wheels available for the vehicle here.

If you're autocrossing your 2017 Subaru BRZ PP in the C Stock class, here's the relevant 2017 SCCA National Solo rules excerpt on stock class wheels:

13.4 Wheels: Any type wheel may be used provided it complies with the following: A. It is the same width as standard and as installed it does not have an offset more than ±7.00 mm (±0.275”) from a standard wheel for the car.

The Performance Pack BRZ is equipped with 17x7.5 48 mm offset (ET) wheels as Original Equipment. Use the filters on our wheel search page to limit your search to 17" diameter, offsets ranging from 42 to 48  and a width of 7.5 inches. For a combination of moderate weight, value and style consider the Sparco Trofeo 5.

 17x7.5 ET48 Black Sparco Trofeo 5 $149
17x7.5 ET48 Sparco Trofeo 5 17x7.5 ET48 Bronze Sparco Trofeo 5 $149
17x7.5 ET48 Sparco Trofeo 5 17x7.5 ET48 Light Grey Sparco Trofeo 5 $121
17x7.5 ET48 Sparco Trofeo 5

I haven't driven a 2017 with its slightly shorter gearing yet, however I suspect the O.E. 215/45R17 size will work best. For this size, add a set of 215/45R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R tires to complete your Tire & Wheel Package at a cost of $1,353.76 (price subject to change) for either the black or bronze wheel option. The light grey package is available for $1,229.80.

There’s no better way to make an instant and dramatic upgrade to the look and performance of your vehicle than with a Tire & Wheel Package. Search for your ideal package and have your BRZ looking that much better!

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the General Grabber HTS 60

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:08

Initial thoughts after 300 miles.

Very little road noise compares to oem contitrac. Good handling and dry traction. Tires were easily balanced at the local tire shop, North Country Tires in Blaine MN. The treads don't look too aggressive and I see a good amount sipes. Haven't tried it in wet condition yet, it's been dry during the last month. So far so good. I'll report back later.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Symmetrical

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:09

New car OE on 2017 Mazda6 Touring. I see there is a specific tread design for the Mazda6 according to TR.
My first impression of the Mazda6--I've been car shopping for many months, have driven numerous others including Optima, Sonata, Elantra, Mazda3, etc., was, this Mazda6 is CONNECTED!
Is it the tires or the tire size? The setup? I can't say.
I can say that now with 600 miles on the tires, these tires are quiet, grippy, smooth, they don't get squirrely in grooved pavement, and show none of the negatives that I've read about. They grip fine in corners, I haven't pushed it hard but I will. No apparent loss of traction in the wet.

I've nailed it a few times, unlike my Soul with P7s (or the Bridgestone WS80s), these Dunlops don't break loose at heavy--but not full--throttle coming off the line. Wet or dry.
I know TR cannot take every tire to the track, sorry these have not been there.
I was considering replacing them, given the terrible ratings they seem to garner.
I had a couple of sets of Dunlop SP60s on other cars, so other Dunlops were good. But everyone produces good and not-so-good tires, even Michelin.
I'm debating swapping these out for one of your top-rated tires in this size. Pirelli P Zero in 245.45.19 would also fit, they're only a few tenths of an inch taller. I must say the 23rd out of 25 tires in the class consumer-rating gives one pause.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Hankook Ventus R-S4

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:09

Second year in auto-x. Bought these tires because re-71's were not available. My first impression is that this is a superior tire for autocross. I was somewhat concerned because I had read a review that said they squeal (I came from a Bridgestone Potenza 760, which does squeals a lot and not the best tire for autocross). I can report In 20 runs with these tires they may have managed a slight growl in the slaloms, but no squeal at all. They do not seem loud on the road and have great grip. I can only hope they last longer than the re-71. If so, I will be buying again. I really wanted to try the re-71's this year but Bridgestone can't seem to produce enough tires even though they had the entire winter. I am running on all four at 275/ 35/18 so I can rotate front to back. While I have a fairly heavy car for auto-x, a fellow competitor comment that it looked like i was sticking well in the turns. I am still learning the tires but hankook has done well with this one. Best of luck All-62

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:21

I have approximately 52,000 miles on these tires and they have performed well on our Touareg. I plan on replacing these tires with the same tire at approximately 60,000 miles. I live in Louisiana and I usually replace my tires a little earlier due to the constant rain. Hydroplaning is not an option when driving on the Causeway.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:22

I mean this tire speaks for itself, my car came with Dunlop run-flats which are complete garbage so having had a spare winter wheel/tire set up for the car, I opted to install summer tires for my OEM Rays Eng. performance package wheels. The car feels like a completely different animal, the steering response is great (though I have electronic steering) but none the less the car is quite precise now. The grip level is great which was as expected. I will always use Michelin Pilot Sport tires for the summer, my only wish is that they made the 255/40/19 setup in the new Pilot Sport 4S but perhaps another time.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

BEST SUMMER TIRES EVER. Save yourself the time and just buy them. I've had Kumho, Sumitomo, Goodyear, Pirelli, Bridgestone and a lot of the Michelin's before the PS4. The PS4's are light years ahead. Unbelievable traction in all conditions, even at the limits. Yet somehow they are super quiet and the ride quality is amazing. Soft, supple even. I have them on my 911 and also on my BMW 550 M, phenomenal on both cars. Note that for winters, the Michelin's also win here hands down.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:22

Downsized from stock Conti 5P in 235/35/19 to these 4S in 245/40/18. Wanted to add some sidewall for additional rim protection. Wasn't prepared for how quiet and smooth the ride became. Took the new shoes to Deals Gap and Tail of the Dragon where they performed way too well in 40 degree wet weather for a summer tire. Once the weather got to more appropriate temps, they really started to show their improvement over the old MSS. They had more grip to give even when they started talking back to you. Wear was pretty good for an abusive weekend of Wookies in the Woods, where a bunch of VW Golf R32's and R's attack the dragon and the other incredible driving roads. The tire was keeping up with cars running R-Comps.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Michelin Premier LTX

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:23

We replaced the 20 wheels and tires and installed these 22 tires with new wheels. I drove a new Expedition Platinum with factory 22s and Pirelli tires, tire noise was pretty evident. After replacing the Hankook 20s with these 22s I couldn't believe the smooth ride and 0 tire noise! I was apprehensive about replacing 20s with 22s for ride quality and tire noise, totally impressed with this Michelin tire. The rig is a King Ranch EL.

Tire Rack Consumer Review of the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R

By Tire Rack Consumer Reviews — May 10th 2017 at 15:23

I bought these tires for autocross and they work great. I just autocrosssed in the rain and they help grip surprisingly well. I drive on them to/from the events (100-150 miles round trip) and they seem to handle the normal road conditions well. At this rate I will easily get 7,500-10,000 miles of autocross driving and driving to/from the events out of them.
