The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced additional steps to address the unique needs of the country’s agriculture industries and provided further guidance to assist in the effective implementation of the Congressionally-mandated electronic logging device (ELD) rule without impeding commerce or safety.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Kentucky-licensed truck driver Jerry L. Jasper to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.  Jasper was served the federal order on March 19, 2018.

On February 21, 2018, Dr. Kenneth G. Edwards, Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.), National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (“National Registry”) No. 4114329794, of Phenix City, Alabama, was arrested after being indicted by a Federal Grand Jury.  Dr. Edwards was charged with crimes including conspiracy, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, making false statements, and falsification of federal records.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Pennsylvania commercial driver’s license (CDL) holder Jasmine S. Smith to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered her not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.  Smith was served the federal order on April 3, 2018.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has ordered a Crossville, Tennessee-based trucking company, Rock City Stone Company, LLC, does-business-as RC Stone & Farms, USDOT No. 3035947, to immediately cease all transportation in commerce of explosives and/or a placardable quantity of hazardous material (HM) after a federal investigation found the company to pose an imminent hazard to public safety.  RC Stone & Farms was served the federal order on April 9, 2018.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is ensuring the stability of the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME) website, the security of the data, and the privacy of drivers and medical examiners.  This is of paramount concern.  There was an unsuccessful attempt by someone to compromise the NRCME website.  It is conclusive that there was no personal information exposed.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has ordered an Acworth, Georgia-based trucking company, Daya Trucking, LLC, USDOT No. 3020203, to immediately cease all interstate and intrastate operations after investigators found the company to pose an imminent hazard to public safety.  Daya Trucking, which operates 39 trucks hauling general freight, was served the federal order on April 23, 2018.

Chairman Graves, Ranking Member Norton, and Members of the Subcommittee, thank you for inviting me to testify about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s work to improve commercial truck and bus safety and implement the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act). It is an honor to testify today before the subcommittee.

The primary mission of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is to reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced new regulatory guidance clarifying the longstanding 150 air-miles hours-of-service agricultural commodity exemption as well as providing additional explanatory detail of the “personal conveyance” provision.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Georgia-licensed commercial driver Steven F. Hoppenbrouwer to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.  Hoppenbrouwer was served the federal order on June 19, 2018.

OMAHA, Neb. – U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao, today joined Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer and Congressman Don Bacon to announce that the Department of Transportation will launch a pilot program to permit 18-20 year olds who possess the U.S. Military equivalent of a commercial driver’s license (CDL) to operate large trucks in interstate commerce.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared New Mexico-licensed commercial driver Evaristo S. Mora to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.  Mora was served the federal order on July 3, 2018.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced that it is seeking public comment on revising four specific areas of current hours-of-service (HOS) regulations, which limit the operating hours of commercial truck drivers.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced a final rule revising federal regulations permitting individuals with a stable insulin regimen and properly controlled insulin-treated diabetes mellitus (ITDM) to be qualified to operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in interstate commerce.

SUMMARY: FMCSA requests comments on a petition submitted by the American Trucking Associations, Inc. (ATA) requesting a determination that the State of California’s meal and rest break rules are preempted by Federal law. Among other things, FMCSA requests comments on what effect, if any, California’s meal and rest break requirements may have on interstate commerce.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Arkansas-licensed truck driver Jeffery Scott Mitchell to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle (CMV) in interstate commerce.  Mitchell was served the federal order on December 14, 2018.

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced it is granting petitions to preempt the State of California’s meal and rest break rules, which differ from current Federal hours-of-service regulations.  

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has declared Ohio-licensed truck driver Doug A. Jones to be an imminent hazard to public safety and has ordered him not to operate any commercial motor vehicle in interstate commerce.  Jones, a commercial driver’s license (CDL) holder, was served the federal order on December 27, 2018.

Twice in the past six months, Jones has struck an individual while operating a tractor-trailer.  In both instances, the individual was killed.
